We met up after work to grab a quick dinner at this Japanese quick-eat place on 17th St. between 5th Ave. and Broadway. Kev has ordered a chirashi (raw fish over rice, ~$9) and I had a Spicy Tofu Udon (~$9). We finished the 20 mins super quick meal with A pot of green tea and ice-cream mochi. The food were okay, and the price is pretty resonable.
We got to the Japanese Pottery Studio at 6:15pm. This friendly japanese lady, the owner(I assume) showed as arround with a brief explaination of what we will do for the night. Then, our teacher Lisa, a pretty young japanese lady, who can speak english fluently started our class by showing us some clay kneading techniques. Basically the purpose of kneading the dough is to get a well mixed consistance, and also getting rid of the gas bubble in between. This kneading action is actually a lot harder than I thought, but Lisa comforted us and say that, this part is actually the hardest part of the night. And through out the night, each of us has made a cup and a plate. Both of us enjoyed the class alot.
The finished product will get fire after a 1 week of drying period. And after that, we will come back for the 2nd fire, which is also the glacing step. But since I will be going to Hong Kong for a month (Yes, I will try to post up the updates at least every other day, kev :P), I will pick up my final product by late march. So, here are some of the pictures:
